I went to my family doctor today to discuss being put on Glucophage to treat my PCOS. She was very nice and went over how it works, the side effects, the dosing schedule, etc. I have to get bloodwork done (hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday) to check my liver functions and whatnot. She encouraged me to lose weight (duh) and I told her I would probably be ready to go off birth control pills in about 6-8 months. We discussed chosing another OB/GYN and she encouraged me to pick one who delivers at a hospital I like. I actually laughed in her face. I told her that I was anticipating that this may be a long journey, but she was very optimistic. Either I have become cynical after my time in Infertile Blogger Land, or she is just plain dumb. She told me to start pre-natal vitamins now and to start reading "what to expect when you are expecting." Oi vey. Is this real? A medical doctor actually thinks this baby-making thing might be easy? What should I think about this? So I am calling a doctor tomorrow who has a nurse/midwife on staff to see if they accept either of my insurances.
I am excited and scared. And R is very excited. Which makes me very happy.
And we plan on buying the house we have been renting for the past six years. We've got alot of remodel work ahead of us, but it has a huge yard, is within walking distance to a great elementary school, and is in a great location (I am only 4 miles from work). Our first project is turning the tiny third bedroom into a large bathroom and then expanding the kitchen into the space where the old tiny bathroom was. And then we are hopefully going to add a master bedroom and bathroom onto the back of the house.
I am hoping 2006 is our year.
